Can a SSG stop a CPLs plan of action for a private for disrespect to a NCO? If so is there a regulation?

SGT (Join to see) as SFC Brian Johnston stated, need more info and depends on the course of action. I saw CPL's who overstep their authority.

CPL Dave Hoover I’ve even tried to use the open door policy with my 1SGT about the situation but was denied because my SSG and XO said they were “handling the situation” it has yet to be handled and it’s been more than 72 hours.

SFC Brian Johnston My approach could been seen a bit disrespectful but that is never my intentions. I am FRUSTRATED. At the NCOs who are supposed to support one another but don’t. Like I was saying before in my 4 years of being in the Army I have not once had a problem with disrespect. This situation however may have gone to far. To me I’ve always seen respect as an ARMY value, not a private to sgt value or any situation thereof. If my SSG feels I disrespect her and she recommends me for UCMJ she’s within her rights but if I write a private up for disrespect to me as a CPL and all I do is take away a 3 day? How am I overstepping?

SFC Brian Johnston She wrote me up for disrespect 4 days after the incident happened and only wrote me up because she heard I was going to go speak to the 1SG. It’s ridiculous and spiteful. And I’ve been working with her for almost 3 years but my COC is new. All of them have been in my unit for less than 2 months. So my reputation off the bat to them is a problem soldier. I’ve received coins and awards from 2 star generals, my division sergeant major and Battalion SGM. I’ve earned my position as an NCO whether it’s two stripes or three.

Happens all the time. Being a Corporal falls in a grey area, and it really should not. With those stacked stripes comes the rights and responsibilities of any other NCO. Just like any other any other NCO they will more then likely be assigned soldiers to supervise, advise, mentor, train and discipline if necessary. On the spot corrections of any soldier whether in that chain or not is within the scope of that Corporals duty.

Yes. I have the authority to override a plan of action by my subordinate but the question should be why would I want to?

SGT (Join to see) sometimes things get a bit difficult. The most important thing for you to do is be squared away and build your credibility. The next thing is to document everything and be sure to not forget to follow up with the last section of the 4856. That will show how well the soldier complied and other results. Make note in a journal that tracks each 4856 of any interference and instances of disrespect. Third, be sure to interact dispassionately and make everything about the mission. Be sure to live up to the NCO Creed and utilize troop leading procedures. Keep a journal showing how each tasking went. You really need to make sure you are squared away before going to the commander. You need to show a pattern. You must also be respectful and be willing for others, especially the SSG to get butt hurt. Above all else make this about the mission and military discipline. Keep in mind the primary role of an NCO is to enforce standards but you must be an example of living the standards, personal integrity, and maturity if you want to earn the respect of superiors, peers, and subordinates alike. If there is even a hint that you are doing this because you are butthurt you will have already lost and it will damage your credibility. Succeed and you will demonstrate professionalism and will help you better understand how to deal with similar issues when you become a senior NCO.

I agree with SFC, annotate everything. Use a calendar or journal with times dates and what was said. This is better than a living witness in a court of law. Take his advise.
