"Lieutenant General Russel L. Honoré was commander of Joint Task Force Katrina. He saw what the media and other officials could not: that New Orleans was in the midst of a humanitarian crisis, not a war. His efforts to de-escalate the situation may have prevented further tragedy."

General Honore was brash, crude, and direct but he was well respected, smart, and worked well with law enforcement and civilian leaders.

We need all leaders, media and the political parties to advocate for peace. We need to stop it now.

Yes 100% all groups need to advocate for peace now before we end up past the point of no return. We need to come together.

When I was a cop, if my supervisors would have instructed me to shoot somebody that wasn’t a direct threat to me or another person, I would have stood my ground and refused.

but would you have actively tried to stop another officer from carrying out the same order you just refused?

They don't want peace, they want chaos and bloodshed. It's time the conservatives in this great nation stand up and stop backing down. These looter and rioters are thugs and only know one thing. Until they start getting beaten to a pulp or shot they will continue to dish it out. Protesters aren't the problem, it's the extremists in these groups that need to be stopped and put down hard. Show them this isn't a damn game.
