There seems to be an abundance of disrespectful junior enlisted Soldiers on here that say all kinds of craziness when speaking to Senior NCOs and Officers. This absolutely blows my mind. Do they really not understand how easy it is for one of these well-connected leaders to screenshot their comments, track down their COC, and completely ruin them?

I expect junior enlisted to now add /\ in their responses to signal they are at Internet Parade Rest.
Seriously, even were I still on active duty, I'm not certain I'd take perceived or outright disrespect on this forum too seriously.
Disrespectful attitudes have a way of resolving themselves.
I always believed in earning respect, and that my rank or position didn't make me a better person than someone junior to my rank or position. I recall a BNCOC SGL (SSG) who used to stop ANCOC students (SFC) just so he could tell them to go to parade rest, if they do so automatically, since he was cadre. I always went to parade rest because it was the standard, and I wanted to take that opportunity away.
I came back to the NCO Academy as an ANCOC SGL, a couple of months later. Shortly thereafter, he was selected for promotion and ended up in my class. I placed him with another SGL since I still had a bit of conflict with his attitude. His attitude caught up with him without my seeking to retaliate, and it was his peers who taught him humility.

I recall that as a young 2nd Lt. on my 1st tour, signing into my new unit and putting my "Airborne" Base Ball Cap on the SgtMaj's desk. When I returned from meeting with the Bn. CO I couldn't find it where I left it. I asked the SgtMaj. if he had seen it and he showed me the cap in the trash can. He just grinned and we were great pals from that day forward. The moral of this story is simple... most E-6's and above have more time in that you have years on this earth. You treat them with respect and they will return the respect!

This is the internet first of all. Second most of us our out. Third you really think jr enlisted on here like seniors? Prob most of the reason they got out. Terrible leadership and people demanding respect just because of there rank. Trust me if jr enlisted get treated like shit and they get out and see those people again, the army cant save them. Seen it happen alot

Everybody who enlists is aware and should maintain awareness that anyway they present themselves online can bite them in the ass during their career. I’m currently in, and while I am not a fan of my direct leadership and the way they run things, I can still maintain my bearing and be respectful. Even if I don’t think they deserve their position or rank, they do have it. We gotta fake it until we make it, or until we reach a high enough rank ourselves to start making a change.

Your response speaks volumes of your wisdom. I’m confident that when it’s your time to lead you’ll do so from a vantage point personal- rather than positional power. SPC (Join to see)
