What are everyone’s thoughts and opinions on SNCO’s having a Masters Degree completed before a centralized promotion board? Specifically, NCO’s that are able to manage their time throughout their careers and obtain a Masters Degree, along with excellent NCOER ratings? With the new merit based SNCO promotion system, will having advanced schooling (Bachelors/Masters) have more of an impact on the selection process for MSG and SGM?

Absolutely. My MOS produces a Post board analysis after every board and higher level degrees always correlate with higher selection rates for promotion.

Any education either military or civilian makes you more competitive.

I'd say yes if we truly adhere to the "talent management" model that we have embraced. Especially if the degree caters to the career path.
