I officially reenlisted on Wednesday. I'm coming from an Army Civil Affairs background with a direct convert to MC2. Right now I'm in SELRES status, but the ultimate plan is to get on active duty.
Anyone have any tips or advice for acclimating and getting to the fleet through the OSVET program?

The Indoc is basically a condensed leadership course. You won't learn anything that you don't already know having been a Sgt. Your best source of information will be if you have other PriSeR sailors in your unit most likely an OSU at your NOSC. You'll have to get with your career counselor for the RC to AC program. You'll have to find out the necessity of the rate in the fleet, than determine your year group to see if they're taking applications. Your career counselor should be able to get you set up.

Weren't you sent to a doctrination program to give you a fundamental working knowledge of the differences between the branch you came from and the Navy?

PO2 Karl Lehn Not yet. I was told I would do a Petty Officer indoc during my first few months of drill, and that if I get a slot in the RC2AC ratings, I might go up to Great Lakes for a 2 week indoc prior to A school.
Coming from prior service Army Reserve they gave me a direct convert to MC2 so I won't go to DINFOS unless I can convince my command to send me. I'm sort of learning as I go and relying on OJT.
