No one can’t tell you what’s the issue; it could be one of a thousands. What I can tell you is that once it gets fixed, back pay is retroactive to his orders (date when his ordered to report).

Contact finance where he's stationed. Don't contact anyone in his chain of command if it can be helped. I'm guessing his recruiter screwed things up.

Unless things changed, those sort of things are handled at the reception station. But again, my knowledge is based on just over 30 years ago.

MAJ Javier Rivera - The problem is, when trying to fix it at reception they are peons in a huge admin system just kicking the along to the next station. Getting BAH payments is a sensitive thing. The Army ensures it isn't given out freely.

When I did it, I had to call my credit union on a land line at reception, hope I got through, and then direct them to send a FAX (who the hell uses fax anymore, the Army that's who) of my mortgage statements and hope upon all hope that said fax was 1) sufficient documentation 2) got through the correct fax 3) said fax was identified as mine, and 4) correctly used to apply BAH to my payment cycles.

That all had to be coordinated with one phone call while a Drill his breathing down our necks. Plus, I didn't have any of my financial records with me in hand at the time of said call.

So I could see a lot of problems.

Mine barley worked because I was employed as a financial analyst of the credit union I was calling and could anticipate what I was going to need.

Like I mentioned CPT (Join to see), it’s been a little over 30 years; summer 1990 to be precise! So I’m sure things have changed. It didn’t applied to me (single at the time) but I recall been briefed to have all sorts of financial information handy IOT to do those sort of things as it might apply. But again, you get great recruiters and not so great recruiters, right?

MAJ Javier Rivera - Exactly sir, my recruiter didn't set me up, I went into reception without BAH and was on my heals to get it myself last minute.

He needs to roll to finance to get it resolved. He will need to run it up the chain from his squad leader to platoon leader to cadre. They will take him to finance and make sure all paperwork is in the system correctly. Once that is determined if it was not correct before then they will put in for the correction. It could take months to get the back pay.

I know I had a similar issue going to DCC last year. It took multiple emails, phone calls, and finally finding the right person, and about 9 months later I got my back pay BAH type II.
