I am a staff sgt sitting in a team leader spot, I have been a staff sgt more than a year. I was moved from one platoon to another platoon to become a squad leader. One staff sgt was going to recruiting school and the school deleted his orders. So now I am place back into a team leader position. My company/ BN don’t have any spots for a staff sgt. Fifth teen months left on station. Has me blocked from going elsewhere. Being in a team leader spot doesn’t help me, I need my squad leader time. What should I do?

Seems to be a Sr NCO leadership failure at the Company and Battalion level.
Maybe I'm old School, but you should never allow a NCO to work below his grade, always at or above for development.
But, if you are stuck in the situation, be the best damn Tm Ldr in the Brigade.

Have the beat damn team in the unit/installation. Best PT, green in every area, self improvement, education, etc. Leverage an easy very excellent NCOER.
Exemplary in everything.
Take this time to be prepared for PSG, as SL should be easier.
Get your Soldiers promoted. SAMC member? No, get on it.

I'd counsel patience.
Squad Leader positions are common, and you'll get your chance soon, I'd wager.
I know it is frustrating, but keep your head straight and avoid being a problem for your leaders.
You have an opportunity to really help by putting together some training for your fellow Team Leaders while on the job. Throw yourself into a project like that, and it will only set you up for success when you have subordinate Team Leaders of your own.
