If the Air Force was to return to Warrant Officers, and you must be E-8 or E-9 and have a 4 year college to degree, would you chose to become one?

While I was in the Air Force, the WOs were being phased out. The only WO I knew was an Aircraft Maintenance Officer. He was sharp and understood you when you discussed a maintenance issue as compared to the LT or Capt who only wanted to know how long it will take to fix the problem. Should the Air Force return to the WO program? Yes, but as a promotion within the ranks. The WO program should be afforded to all E7-E9s who meet certain criteria, BUT not to anyone off the streets.

I suppose the answer would depend on how the new WO's were going to be used. I could imagine the available career fields & functions being very technical (like cyber engineers, project managers, and RPA pilots) and that would be attractive. I can also picture them being a form of sub-lieutenant with all of a CGO's administrative responsibilities and half of their authority. That would be considerably less appealing.
