"No more Task Force Smiths" was a rallying cray after the initial states of the Korean war which occurred 5 years after the biggest force drawdown in our history.
It is interesting that the Army will officially " start screening selection lists for all officer and warrant officer ranks from colonel and below for “adverse and reportable information.”
I was nailed by that process unofficially in 1984 which resulted in my RIF from RA in October 1992.
Hopefully the Army is more uniform in its use of adverse comments on OERs than it has been in the past.

Like someone posted, we have tougher standards than elected officials do (especially with dealing with classified information or using money to gain influence)
The secret to staying in for me was....

1.Max the PT test or get above 290 (or for someone like me, 53, is just get a 95 on the run and be happy since I am old)
2. Meet height and weight
3. Not get any of the those career killing items as mentioned in the article.
4. Finish all your required schooling..
5. If you get promoted by the board and the slot is not available in your unit due to Politics then go IRR then come back in at the higher rank.
6. Show up for drill. If you miss it, get it made up.

It's been happening for our last 2 promotion boards and currently the board that just finished in May. If you are selected for promotion, CID, HQDA, IG and your unit has to completely scrub all of your files to include restricted records to ensure only the best of the best make it through.
