As a member of the board of directors for a few Veterans organizations, I was hoping to see what this article had to say but sadly the link is dead.

The link took me to a totally different discussion regarding women in the workplace.

My organization has a Veterans network. The rules are if there are multiple people applying for a position and all have similar backgrounds and one happens to be a veteran, that individual gets bumped to the top of the list.

Great post. I haven't seen too much of this outside of WWP. I try to stay with died in the wool proven supporters...VFW, American Legion etc

SFC Josh Billingsley - While I am not a staff member of the WWP and I agree with you that they have their issues, I feel the WWP's issues are mainly with their headquarters and not so much the local staff they have placed around the different cities they are located in. That is a pretty sad fact because I think a lot of Veterans, myself included, are growing cautious to get involved with them yet that have done some great things for Veterans for the past 13 years or so. I think the same can be said about the VFWs and American Legions. Again, these are not bad organizations at all. They have been amazing supporters. Yet, the number of "modern day" Veterans joining their ranks is getting shorter and shorter as well. Post 9/11 Veterans want to be engaged and encouraged. They want to get out and be seen as the tremendous asset that they are. I think that is why you are seeing organizations that focus on getting Veterans off the couch and out of bars are growing in support. It doesn't mean they are perfect and not free of this possible corruption but that is where the Post 9/11 Veteran is looking more and more.

Insightful response. My experience with WWP has been limited, and again, other than the traditional veteran institutions I tend to stay away from other organizations. Not out of caution buy if I gave money to every organization that supported vets I'd be broke in a day.
