I am not a fan of the current system, but a pure popular vote would force the big city mindset on rural communities. NY and LA decide that hunting should be outlawed because there is no hunting in either of these locals and after-all meat comes from the grocery store where no animals were harmed. Thus the state or area with the greatest population would dictate law to the rest.

IF, the federal government were to restrict itself to federal/national issues, then by all means lets abolish the system and go by popular vote.

LTC Frank D., this is the reason the Electoral College was instituted in the first place. It is also the reason we have two senators from each state regardless of population - the minority must be protected from abuses by the majority.

Sgt Kelli Mays, I've never understood the electoral college system. After reading the article, I sort of do now. Mainly what I got out of it is that voters are getting screwed in their voting for a favorite. I agree with the author.
