The news media was saying the same stuff back in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. One thing that they always leave out is the percentage of service members that are of various racial and ethnic background to make it appear that there is a disproportionate amount of punishment against a select group when it is usually not the case. The other statistic that is conveniently left out of reports like this (primarily because it does not fit the narrative being presented) how many service members of various ethnicities received NJP and or administrative release from service in lieu of court martial.
One of these studies from the past was debunked once all of the additional relevant information was shown to conflict with the conclusion of said report. That was that Black and Hispanic service members were punished at the same ratios as their representation in a particular unit or service branch.
There is an agenda behind the report and people need to ask what is the true agenda behind the report.
