This is something I don't understand, keep in mind I am not Navy. You're out in the ocean, you can see miles and miles in every direction. How in the heck do you hit something? Especially something this big... I mean really.

I checked the weather for the area and it was dominated by a high. That is typically indicative of clear skies. So I only have more questions now.

Alot of factors go into this but most likely complacency and not paying attention to the job. My rate in the Navy dealt with navigation and making sure the ship didn't hit another ship.
