Once the utility of aircraft carriers were realized, the Americans built dozens of more of them. A feat no nation was able to match.

The only other country who had many carriers was World War Two japan, all resting at the bottom of the sea.

PFC (Join to see) - Sinking their carriers ushered in a new era for WWII in the Pacific. Germany had Russia. The Japanese had the Pacific to contend with.

MAJ Ken Landgren - without sinking the Japanese carriers, they would have been able to launch aircraft closer to parts of the American fleet and the USS Indianapolis might have been caught and sunken much faster, changing the course of history and dragging the war into perhaps a new year and allowing the F8F Bearcat to get a taste of combat of its time.
