We did not "abandon" the Kurds. We are not fighting Turkey on their behalf.
US troops are still there and embedded, just not in the border area under assault.

SSG Robert Mark Odom - They are taking fire from the Turks. What I am saying is that the 50-ish SF Soldiers we had in the area did not leave the Kurds, they relocated to a place out of the area under attack. A few of them had a near miss yesterday; thankfully they were not injured.

Removing our troops opened the door to Turkey to attack. Your interpretation of the situation is not without truth. It is, however, inconsistent with how the Kurds feel about it. We have opened the door for the Kurds to seek help from Russia. Once that happens Russia will help and we will not only be unwelcome there but also viewedfor a long time as the enemy. Our ally Turkey has also recently been talking to Russia because of our earlier resistance to their attack which, of course, didn't last. This is a mess any way you look at it

SP5 Dennis Loberger - "feelings" are not what makes policy. At least I hope not. Trump does not want our people in the crossfire when Turkey comes over the berm, which they have been champing at the bit to do for years. Most likely, Turkey's President told Trump it was coming, and he made the move to pull our guys back while still trying to talk Turkey out of it.
I don't think the Russians are even a player for this one' they seem content to watch these two factions fight it out while helping Assad consolidate power in Idlib province.

1SG (Join to see), I believe you are right about Turkey warning us and Trump making the decisionhe made. While the President's decision may have stalked Turkey and Russia, it remains to be seen about the Kurds and Russia.I certainly hope you are right about that and I am wrong. Time will tell
