I think we follow the evidence and see where it leads.
Interesting how the tone of folks like Rep Nadler has changed. We was all about following the evidence just a few weeks ago. Nothing political about that... nope.
In light of this, I wonder if it has something to do with the Impeachment proceedings being moved out of the Judicial Committee and over to Intelligence. At the time, I thought it was because Nadler and company hadn't done a very good job of making the case, but this development suggests to me that there could be more at work here.
I think there is quite a bit here that may become deeply relevant, but I'll withhold judgment until more comes to light.

You do realize this is more likely looking into what initiated the Mueller investigation in the first place? Many are alleging that the premise for starting the investigation was where the criminal activity occurred. This could in turn lead to what vindicates the President.

Wag the dog move.
Sure, IF the law was violated, go ahead, but timing certainly raises suspicion that calling it a criminal investigation is a move not based on evidence, but to force testimony in an effort to muddy the waters. Barry made his position clear when he applied for the job via his letter to the editor.
Either this rule of law still exists, or it doesn't.
This is a dark time, and the GOP will have to side with the Constitution, or continuing their oligarchy.
