Facebook is a private company. They can do what they please on their platform. It's not censorship.

It is censorship. It is not ILLEGAL censorship, but it is still censorship.

From dictionary.com

Censorship: the act or practice of censoring.
Censoring: brings to the definition for censor
Censor: (noun) an official who examines books, plays, news reports, motion pictures, radio and television programs, letters, cablegrams, etc., for the purpose of suppressing parts deemed objectionable on moral, political, military, or other grounds.
Censor: (verb) to examine and act upon as a censor. (Which brings us to the noun definition above).

When Facebook officials decide to removes objectional posts, they are performing the act of censoring content. Therefore it is censorship.

It is not a violation of the 1st Amendment, because they are a private company. But that does NOT mean it isn't censorship.

Words have meaning.

CWO4 Terrence Clark - I think it might be more than occasionally Chief. Still have lots of respect for you, though. As an officer and a gentleman.

Ah?? Another incoherent posting. "Authoritarian" not "Authotarian". Censorship? What censorship? Terry, you may have a good point, but no one knows what it is.

SMSgt Bob W. Since you are quick to print out typos, did you mean the GIST of Terry's posting? What is an ole? Did you mean old? Did you mean fishing, since phishing is a method of cyber attack?

I mean, I completely understood what you were saying, but I guess since you used the wrong word, I get to claim you made no sense, right?

The Chief was commenting on the article. Which is pretty common on social media. A link is posted, the poster puts a short commentary of their thoughts as it relates to the article. That isn't regurgitation, it is commentary. And it isn't fishing for comments, it is starting a discussion. Another thing that is common for social media.

Gee, we have an English Major with a BS in Social Media also. Ah, yes, it appears you are "phishing". Notice the quotation marks. Go back and check your English books as to how and when they are used. I await your answer.
