A good list, not a great list. I agree wholeheartedly with the first item (including its position at the head of the list). However, what is missing is the fact that questions are more important than answers.
I spent much of my career (military and civilian) locked in rooms with warring factions, fighting over the best course of action, the solution to a problem. I waited them out until they paused for a breath and said, "I may be stupid, but just what is it we're trying to do?" or "What is the problem?" Invariably someone would respond, "You are stupid." Then tell me, "What is the issue/problem or what are we trying to do?" As soon as they answered, a new fight would begin and the warring parties would fight over the answer to my question. Again, invariably, once they agreed on the problem/issue/question, the solution/answer/response was easy. Thus, I would add to this list, "Always remember that proper answers arise from proper questions." BTW, I have several figurines and stuffed animals on my desk of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland to remind me. Do you remember Alice's first encounter with the Cat. She's lost in the woods and asks him with path to follow. He responds, "Where are you going?" and she says' "I don't know." "Then" he answers "it doesn't matter which path you take." Call me crazy, but I have always found that inspiring.
Also missing is the value of perseverance. I don't see anything in the list that equates with "perseverance". Bull-headed determination can overcome many flaws in planning and preparation. I recommend reading "Rhinoceros Success" if you can find a copy. The rhinoceros has poor hearing and poor eyesight. He aims at his target by scent alone (a very poor sense) and charges. Nothing will deter him or alter his path. He merely charges and rarely fails. Others are intimidated and get out of his way. Remind you of anyone? Reminds me of almost every successful person I've ever known in civilian life and the military
