If California Driver's Licences are acceptable, anyone should be able to scratch any identity they want on the back of an old envelope and use it. Our state is handing out DL's with all the discrimination of ticker tape falling on an avenue in New York during a parade. I'm getting my passport renewed. Hopefully the feds haven't been handing them out like candy to illegal aliens

According to TSA website, Alaska, "has an extension allowing Federal agencies to accept driver's licenses .....until October 10, 2016". According to the same page Sgt Kelli Mays, Texas is also among those states.
However, "In the event you arrive at the airport without valid identification, because it is lost or at home, you may still be allowed to fly. The TSA officer may ask you to complete a form to include your name and current address, and may ask additional questions to confirm your identity. If your identity is confirmed, you will be allowed to enter the screening checkpoint. You may be subject to additional screening."
"You will not be allowed to fly if your identity cannot be confirmed, you chose to not provide proper identification or you decline to cooperate with the identity verification process." (https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification)

PVT Robert Gresham I did not know this. Thanks...I did forget my license one time, but I had my VA hospital card with me and it has my name and my photo so they let me use it.

Washington State residents with regular Driver's License face the same trouble. However, many of us opted for an Enhanced DL that states your citizenship, has biometric features and can be used for crossing land and sea border with Canada. It is a simple and fast process.

Sgt Kelli Mays - You can do it by walking in the DL office with a photo ID and a birth certificate or passport and you walk out in 30 min with Enhanced DL.
