I doubt there is foul play in this case my friend SSG Robert Ricci. It seems that the most likely path of transmission was from presidential advisor Hope Hicks to President Donald Trump or Melania Trump. In any event the symptoms appear to be mild and the President is being monitored/treated at a private are of Walter Reed National Medical Center. I expect the President will recover along with his wife.

It is not odd at all that Supreme Court associate justices, Congressmen and Congresswomen, |White House staffers and advisors and the President & First Lady catch SARS-CoV-2. They interact with many people and work in a city which increases the risk. [New York City is a prime example].

I know many people who have been infected with SARS-CoV-2. None of them have died. Certainly people have died from SARS-CoV-2 - such as the nursing homes of New York and New Jersey where people were sent to convalesce after being treated and released [early one].

SSgt Richard Kensinger According to the doctors that just did a news conference, wearing of a mask in and of itself may be insufficient because the particulate matter of the virus are so tiny that they can actually go through the mask. The only thing the mask does is decreases their velocity which in turn decreases the distance that they may go. Even social distancing can be challenging especially when you are in a setting such as the nomination of a Supreme Court Justice. Many of them were wearing their masks.

My question is if they have all been tested prior to meeting with the president including Hope Hicks, which is how they found out she was positive, how could this happen? Why did it affect the top echelon of the presidential campaign but not others? Why has it affected two key votes in the Senate confirming Amy Coney Barrett as a associate Supreme Court Justice? The Democrats are desperate to stop this from happening. A conspiracy theory? Absolutely. Just a theory. Just a "what-if" and an "I wonder."

From Jama Internal Medicine in August 2020, "Around 30% of patients who tested positive for the new coronavirus were asymptomatic, but they still carried just as much of the virus as symptomatic patients—and for nearly as long—according to a new study that experts say provides the first scientific evidence of asymptomatic transmission of the pathogen."

I don't know how they do contact tracing other than to see who's had it, at what point in it they are themselves or if they're asymptomatic and still able to pass it on, or the other fine details of it. Hope Hicks was first announced his being positive and my first thought was it she was the patient zero in this case. I don't know if we can say that definitively at this point.

The one thing that bothers me the most about the virus is the spreading of misinformation. 209,000 people have not died of covid-19. If a person is involved in a traffic collision and drives head-on into a semi and killed one would think that would be the cause of death. Not if they test covid-19 positive. The hospital lists that ae the cause of death so that they can receive payment from the federal government. I won't even give the estimates of what some people think are legitimate numbers cuz they're kind of all over the place.

I'd be comfortable saying 50% but even 50% is too many. However, when put into perspective more people die of traffic collisions each year and more people die of heart disease and cancer each year then covid-19. Where's the uproar for them?

SSgt Richard Kensinger sir, with respect, I understand what you are saying but don't agree with your premise. Masks, social distancing work as prophylactic measures but I don't think there is much that will actually prevent this short of a working vaccine. Again just my opinion.

SSG Samuel Kermon - At this point it maybe several yrs. before all are vaccinated. It has to be validated as effective and safe. Dr. Redfield, CDC Director indicates that mitigating behaviors are effective "90% of the time". To do otherwise will put me and others at high risk. I appreciate your view. Mine is a clinical one. There aren’t enough facts to claim “foul play” and saying it out loud only causes the conspiracy theorists to kick into high gear. Hopefully the admin team will be able to utilize contact tracing and figure out if there really was any foul play. I hope not.
