CMDCM Gene Treants - Only the female Petty Officer behaved properly? Sandy :)

1LT Sandy Annala Without going into arduous and painful details by reading the full official report, etc, I will make a generalization that while other Sailors also behaved properly during and after the incident, she was the only one recognized for the conspicuous bravery of her actions. It's disturbing to me because I sense that the entire crews could have easily been killed at only the slightest provocation real or perceived. The Iranians IMO only needed the slightest excuse.

I read the account and was impressed that she was able to keep her wits and do that one thing correctly. At least she knew how to trip an alarm and let others outside the boats know that something was wrong. That action resulted in a faster release of her and her shipmates. Notice that she was subjected to the humiliation of being treated as a female of the captors country and NOT as a Prisoner of War in accord with the Geneva Convention, none of the Sailors were as we would have done.

Capt Tom Brown don't we wish we had the official report? I sure do.

Outstanding! Bad Scenario All Around and Doubly Bad as a Female in a Extreme Religious Male Dominant Culture.

Col Rebecca Lorraine Was not aware of the award to recognize her actions; well deserved. she is a courageous person and a credit to the US Navy. As you say, this is a sad, horrible incident and disturbs me greatly.
