We were landing companies of the 3rd Marines regularly at Da Nang and Chu Lai by 1965. When we weren't operating along the coast we were inserting Small numbers of Marines at LZ's along the Saigon River and the Cua Viet River. Also heavy equipment to Cam Rhan Bay and up the Saigon River to the Nha Be area. Constantly on the move with our Marines from then on . So as they say, "it was on from then on", and worse each year. Thanks Dave.

SGT (Join to see) If your uncle came ashore at Da Nang in March of 65. It may have been our ship the U.S.S. Thomaston or one of our sister LSD's, LST's, LPH's or APA's that took him ashore. We were over there from Aug. of 64 until April of 65 on that particular deployment. Did more after that one. But dates all ran together after that.

PO3 Bob McCord - He passed away a few years ago from Agent Orange. I just know he was in that first group of ground troops in '65. He was very humble about his tour there.
