Not really, but when you next to one at a light, they had a nice growl to the engine noise.

The Prowler is one of those love it or hate it offerings. The visual suspension and bobbed front fender look is reminiscent of the hot rods built in the 30's - early 60's out of (usually) '29 - '32 Ford Roadsters or something earlier plunked onto a '32 frame with a flathead V8, a set of big and little's and some special wheels or baby moon hubcaps. It was an attempt to appeal to boomers who were smack dab in the middle of their mid-life experience and it worked - to a degree.
The car was a turn on until you turned it on... Starting this V6 engine sounds like your revving up a sewing machine. Though it produced an adequate amount of HP at 214 (later 253) the lack of a V8 or at least a Super or Turbo charged large displacement six was a turn off and potential buyers walked away from one of the coolest under powered cars ever mass produced. Guess you could say it was a "No-Go Showboat". Purple was the only color available for a couple of years then Chrysler allowed them to be painted only in colors authorized for the Prowler.
Will Knudeson (Grandson of Seamon (Bunky) Knudeson was the project manager for the project Prowler and tells me of the great pains Chrysler went to in making this a highly desirable and highly dependable specialty car.
As for me, I like them but no, you won't win at the drag strip or in a street race, but you will look very cool getting to where you are going.
Thanks for posting this Sgt. Murphy
