Thanks for reminding us SP5 Mark Kuzinski that back in 1965 the U.S. 1st Cavalry Division joined with South Vietnamese Marines to strike at 2,000 North Vietnamese troops 25 miles from An Khe in the Central Highlands. It is not surprising that in the first major air-mobile joint mission, faulty U.S.-South Vietnamese coordination allowed the North Vietnamese Army 325th Infantry Division to escape entrapment. However the joint force managed to reopen Route 19, between Pleiku and An Khe, the main east-west supply route in the region.
