Good news. When I went in in 1975, my DIs were so nice. Every day was a holiday!

Gosh, I can't believe that Drill Instructors, of all Marines, would swear and call recruits names. Gee willikers, I don't know if I would survive in today's boot camp. My DI's were the kindest, gentlest human beings to ever walk the earth. They said 'please' and 'thank you' at every turn. There is no need for vulgarity in today's world. Sarcasm off.

LTC Trent Klug I do not understand when people join Uncle Sam's Misguided Children (USMC) and then are shocked by the behavior of the DI's! Did they think they were joining the Boy Scouts?

In a word. Yes. I can't tell the number of recruits in my platoon that thought the DI's would be easy on us. I'm sure its even worse now because of the way kids have been raised now.
