I always was amazed at the search for gold and gold fever. The 1897 Gold Rush is famous in my mind because Jack London got great inspiration from it and wrote so many great tales. To Build a Fire is one of the most powerful stories I have ever read. A man travelling alone to get to another camp, it is one of best examples of the literary school of Realism/Naturalism. I would urge one to read it if they haven't already.

SGT (Join to see) I have not been to JACK LONDON Square in downtown Oakland, CA for many years. A bar on the Square was built like the prow of a ship with a tilted deck, the restrooms' also had some nautical theme. I continue to enjoy his perspective on men's actions.
