As a U.S. Attorney he filed several cases to desegregate schools in Alabama. And he also prosecuted Klansman Henry Francis Hays, son of Alabama Klan leader Bennie Hays, for abducting and killing Michael Donald, a black teenager selected at random. Sessions insisted on the death penalty for Hays. When he was later elected the state Attorney General, Sessions followed through and made sure Hays was executed. The successful prosecution of Hays also led to a $7 million civil judgment against the Klan, effectively breaking the back of the KKK in Alabama. However he did he did go after Albert Turner and others for voter fraud which they were acquitted. While I agree some diversity training might be in order and that change comes at a cost I'm not really sure what the NAACP individuals were expecting other than to get arrested as I'm not convinced sounds bites will affect his nomination this time around.

Thanks for the added information. Makes me want to look into this story a little more.

Jeff Sessions says he handled these civil rights cases. He barely touched them.
We worked in the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, which brought those lawsuits, and handled three of the four ourselves.

Its important to understand that the author of this article worked for the National Redistricting Project for Congressional Democrats. Both political parties would like to have districts drawn where their party members are more likely to be elected. Persoanlly I find gerrymandering a legal way of manipulating the vote. Redistricting is a dry concept with large implications - gridlock, dysfunction, and increasing polarization so I'm not surprised the two would disagree with one one protecting the Democratic vote the other protecting the Republican vote. While they are entitled to their own perspective that are as well guilty of driving a wedge between the left and the right. Like I stated Mr. Sessions is accountable for his actions, however I just don't see the efforts of the NAACP affecting his nomination this go around.

Good! They will go down in History as True Warriors for Civil Rights! Not So Much for the Cult of Trump.

@SSGT C. Bride.. naacp did what they wanted and brought attention to the discrimination and mistreatment of their kind. And justice came out of that w/ the prosecution of the klan in that area.
