Russia is trying to do its best to undermine NATO's presence in the former Soviet bathroom Baltic Republics via propaganda and disinformation and recently they were insulting the defense minister of Canada because he is a Sikh and wears a turban even though he's a lieutenant colonel in the Canadian Forces and served honorably in Afghanistan.

Unless I'm mistaken, NATO was created in response to the threat of Soviet expansionism which has led me to wonder why NATO didn't collapse with the Soviet Union. Now it seems to me that, inasmuch as NATO predates the modern state of Russia, it seems likely that Russia is acting out in response to the threat of NATO. It seems to me that we've blown a very good opportunity to create an ally of Russia, one that might have been used to counterbalance other threats (China?). Or, am I very much mistaken?

I don't think we ever could have been friends with Russia even during the times of Gorbachev or later because I was always a faction within Russia Putin belong to that never trusted us and thought that they had sold out. Just my opinion
