Why Marines Love the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle

I saw one during Navy Week and got to check it out. As one with armorer training all they did is make the barrel free floating and replace the gas impingment system with the piston. Other than that it's still an M16/M4/AR platform. I do appreciate however that they finally looked at the innovation going on in the civilian side of firearms and use what is working. A gas piston, free floating barrel AR type of weapon had been around for a number of years now.
