To be honest this sounds like a CO that was promoted to fast and felt his personal beliefs were all that mattered. I was not there and I don't know the guy so all I have to go on is this one story. That being said If the command did have a piss poor performance where was the documentation? I have been at a declining command the in coming CO didn't extend work hours he just said if the work isn't done you don't go home. He made ever port a working port on deployment and the ship was put in order in no time. Bible verses in Birthday cards? As for the Transgender remarks, your the CO keep your mouth shut on hot button topics, you don't get the privilege of an opinion in public with your subordinates. I hat PC culture but even I know that.

Sounds like having to work the extra hour and whatever he meant about the Army is what really got these guys down. I never thought as myself as an atheist so much but more like a not give a shitist. I had a commander once who was sort of a christian zealot. I knew it and simply avoided saying things that would set him off, which i mistakenly did once. Didn't really bother me, I just thought it was weird.

LCDR (Join to see) Sounds Like the Colonel was Using Religion as a Piss Poor Band Aid for Other Issues. Also You want to Proselytize on the Taxpayers Dime, I Think You Should Be Fired. I Don't Have Much Use for Theocrats be they in Iran or in Our Military.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel I agree but it just seems like this was some weak complaints. Take out two religious comments made to a group and one email admonishment using a bible verse (although it did not indicate if he referenced chapter and verse so you would not know that if you did not read the old testament) and you have what looks like a Commander that evaluated his unit as lacking and added one hour of work to the work day to give his people the opportunity to correct it. He even encouraged them to tell him what the Military could do to help them. I am sure back in the 80 and 90s you worked more than an 8 hour day.
