Horrors! They're closing for Easter. Let me tell you a story... When I enlisted in the Army in 1966, all stores closed on Easter... and Christmas ...and every Sunday. They closed for national holidays (well, the more important ones like the 4th of July). But then, I fell off the Earth. One year in Infantry School. Thirteen months in Vietnam. Four years in Hawaii (before we had satellite television and who cared about television anyway. It was Hawaii!) Motel 6 derived its name from the fact that it charged $6 for a night's stay. Seven Eleven was open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Television broadcast a test pattern before shutting down for the night and before beginning program broadcasting in the morning. Imagine the shock when I returned. The Civil Rights Movement occurred during those years and many cities looked like fortresses. Stores were open 24/7. And now we have the shock and horror of stores like Hobby Lobby and Chick Fil-et that close on Sundays (those damn Christians). And it's now news that Aldi's want to close on Easter? Those poor customers now have to find an alternative? What has the world come to?
