I totally agree with the states that are going after President Obama and his illegal Executive Order. I also hope that the Congress take decisive action to block it, although it appears their only ability to do so, at this time, is with the "power of the purse".... defund any and everything that supports this illegal action (issuing of work permits, identification, etc.).

We need immigration reform, but this is the wrong way to do it. The President has exceeded his authority (again) and must be stopped.

You left out a key point in your comment. The President can establish policies and procedures IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAW. He cannot violate the law or change the law. Only Congress can pass or change a law.

While Obama clearly thinks he is above the law and can change it at will, he is mistaken, which will eventually be upheld in the courts. The states have to prove they have been harmed to have legal standing. Financial impacts of the illegal Obama amnesty will cost the states billions. That, in and of itself, will give them standing to pursue legal action. If that fails, because of the liberal courts, they are prepared to seek other avenues to get it before the courts, to include use of surrogate injured parties (individuals, businesses, etc. that have been "injured" by the illegal act).

Sure. That's what he did. Exactly where did the Executive Order violate the law? Exactly how do the States have standing to sue?

http://immigrationimpact.com/2015/01/13/states-lawsuit-against-executive-action-more-politics-than-substance/

One case, in Arizona, has already been dismissed by the U.S. District Court, under policy question grounds.

Look, to sue, you have to have an injury that is real, and you have to have standing to bring the suit. The law in question grants the President the ability to set policy and priorities. The E.O. doesn't exempt anyone from enforcement, it just sets certain groups at the bottom of the priority list, which means that the resources of the government will address other immigration violations. He has that authority under current law.

As I stated in a previous post about a month ago, it is a waste of time swapping news/opinion articles about this issue. For every one you find supporting your position, I can find 10 supporting mine and vice versa. It is a futile drill.

It will be decided by the courts. Those opposed to Obama's executive over-reach will find a legal way to get it heard. Our Monday morning quarterbacking and opinions will not change the outcome and I really do not care to get into a urinary Olympiad with you or anyone over it. You have your opinions and are free to express them. So do I.

Yes he has broken the law and no one is holding his feet to the fire because there is no longer a two party system here. Both are sleeping in the same bed. With the Main Steam News Media safely in Obummer's back pocket he will do anything he pleases. He figures no one will challenge him because everyone is afraid of the race card. Our system is clearly broken down and no one longer has the guts to stand up and make him toe the line.

I am all for proper immigration (my wife's parents immigrated here about 50 years ago) but this is the wrong way to go about it and lets in who knows what.

States need to start taking power back from our overly powerful federal government and this is a GREAT first start. I wonder if many of the recently converted to Republican states will join up with this once they are sworn in.

I think very few of us have not come from immigrants, I am 1/8th American Indian, that leaves 7/8th's that came from Scotland, Ireland, England, and a wee bit of German Jew tossed in. My wife is 100% Itallian, both of her parents were 2nd generation.

"The house failed to pass a comprehensive immigration bill". Seems to me we already laws on the books regarding immigration. Let's enforce them. The conservative and democrats view on immigration reform are 180 off.

It disgusts me that we have elected officials who care more about illegals than our own citizens.

Sgt Packy Flickinger It strikes me that this is about business interests. Do you have any idea how much the cost of produce would go up if you had to pay even minimum wage to the workers? That's the story you never hear - people scream about "building a wall" while ignoring that our produce industry is basically supported by illegal immigrant labor.

I cant say that everyone on the Hill qualifies for that statement but too many do, and even if we only had one that qualifies that would be too many.

MAJ (Join to see) I believe that the minimum wage has been falsely elevated to much too high of a figure (and some states want to raise it even higher) Minimum wage is designed to be an entry level pay for a non skilled position. The argument we keep hearing is "you can't raise a family on minimum wage, it must be raised"; the truth is a person should not be trying to raise a family on minimum wage, if you cannot get promoted or find a better paying job to support your family after a few months then something is wrong with that individuals work ethics or decision making abilities. My daughter started out at minimum wage at 16 years old as many of us did, and like most of us she got a raise after 90 days and again after 180 days because of her ability to learn the job, excellent customer service and a strong work ethic. No, she was not raising a family but she also did not stay at minimum wage.

True, costs of some items would go up but overall cost would go down, way down. For example, I worked with new housing contruction, you wouldn't believe how many major errors were made by highering unskilled, unlicensed illegals. Then you have crime. Last stay I heard illegals made up 15% of our population and over 45% of those incarcerated. A few year back the LA times stated 97% wanted for felony murder in LA county were undocumented immigrants. Need I bring up health costs? I work in healthcare and half the people we treat in the ER are Latinos with no insurance or on the Govt plan. We have plenty of youn adults who will work to put themselves through college picking oranges or cleaning hotel rooms. Sometimes you can't even get a job if you don't speak Spanish, even those who do speak it can't speak English.

Yea, not all politicians are bleeding hearts, but right now, enough are.

We defend our borders and freedom in Iraq but don't here, why?
