I wish her luck. She chose one of the toughest schools in the AF to complete. I think the attrition rate is still hovering around 50%. The biggest complaint I get from the TACP folks I know, is that AF basic training does not mentally prepare you for the rigors of the battlefield airman courses. The standard AF mindset is not aggressive enough for the course, unlike the Army or Marines basic training. Her coming right out of basic training could actually work against her.
At least she didn't try Pararescue, their attrition rate is 90%!
What the article doesn't say is that since she is brand new, if she fails the school, the AF gets to pick her career field. I hope that she completes it.

SMSgt Thor Merich 'zactly. Mossy don't realize that TacP pipeline starts straight from basic. There is no prep school or learning other AFSCs prior.
Our biggest downfall in the Force is that the vast majority of it (save Security Forces, and Spec Ops) have a largely business-minded attitude of running things. Is why those of us in the mentioned fields sometimes feel pout of place in the other offices.

SSgt (Join to see) - If she is going to the school means she met the pre enlistment physical requirements and PT tests prior to going to Basic. Which means she has the physical part down and I hope she has the mental part down...that is the tough part. Both of you are correct that we don't prep properly in Basic for these types of career fields.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth - i know that when i went thru basic, there was one day where they took everyone interested and had "tryouts". If you passed the run, pushup, situp, swim portion you were put in the pipeline upon graduating BMT.

SSgt (Join to see) - That's awesome that they do that there. That PT test is tough...nowhere near what they will go through but tough nonetheless. Thanks for the update.

SFC George Smith i think that's one thing they're trying to pride themselves on - standards are staying as is because the battlefield doesn't change it's standards.
