There is a saying. Be careful of what you wish for. Several countries that shut down and opened up, had to shut down again.

SPC Kevin Ford - I think you are right. Without robust testing, it's like letting the Taliban loose.

I have seen a lot of similarities in some of those so-called protest.

From article:

"It does indeed seem as though many of these demonstrations may have been astroturfed by front organisations.

They also reveal how, in the Internet Age, democracy and political expression can all-too easily be manipulated and distorted. And it’s likely that at a time when people are more worried about fighting a dangerous pandemic, it will sadly be easier for cynical groups to manipulate and distort them."

Ain't t the truth,,,, we see it here all day, every day.

Really foul individuals and organizations? I do not agree. I don’t think it is any surprise that the groups concerned with 2nd amendment rights are also concerned with other forms of government overreach.
I am not a small business owner, but if I were I’d be pissed at the double standard imposed. Small business can’t open but big box stores are doing record sales with customers shoulder to shoulder. A few more weeks and who knows how many of these small business will close for good. Texas Supreme Court just ordered the woman with the hair salon to be released from jail and I am anxiously awaiting their response on that judges actions. Bottom line I don’t think the “big government” actions are inline with our constitution and the principles this country was founded on.

SPC Kevin Ford I don’t think so. If you go back to why we are locked down it is to SLOW the spread, not stop it. Look at the charts. A huge peak and then drop off over a short period of time, or a lower number over a much longer period. If 10% of the population was going to get it, then they still will. The virus is too widely distributed to stop it. Now we are managing the infections to keep from overwhelming the hospital systems.

TSgt Jack Oberholtzer Yes, the distancing was to slow the spread so the healthcare system isn't overwhelmed. When it is overwhelmed they are no longer able to give good care and a lot more people die preventable deaths from COVID-19 and other causes than otherwise would have.

When people don't think it is a big deal and ignore the orders they speed the spread and put us right back where we were with the possibility of local healthcare being overwhelmed and more people dying.

Slowing the rate of spread isn't about spacing the deaths over time, it's about keeping the overall number of deaths lower. That's why it matters when people are pushing the false narrative that this isn't a problem and the people listening to them speed the spread back up.

SPC Kevin Ford 3rd paragraph. “Slowing the spread isn’t about spacing the deaths over time, it is about keeping the overall number of deaths lower”. It is about spreading the numbers over time and by doing so NOT overwhelm the healthcare system. By doing so each patient can receive care and that is how the numbers of deaths are kept to a minimum.

TSgt Jack Oberholtzer Exactly, we are saying the same thing there. What I'm pointing out is the implication of people believing it is a myth, ignoring social distancing, and speeding the spread back up.
