BLUF, Warren had faint markers that appeared to be consistent found in tribes from Mexico, Peru, and Columbia. Many Mexicans and natives to those areas also have some of these markers. There is no evidence at this time to show Warren's markers come from a tribe in N America.

Important takeaways:
"Trump said that if Warren did mount a presidential run in 2020 and the two faced off in a general election debate, he would offer $1 million to her favorite charity on the spot if she took a DNA test to prove her Native American heritage."
She hasn't mounted a presidential run and they aren't in a general election.
1) "strong evidence" Native American ancestor dating back six to 10 generations. considered 1/32nd Native American. Should Warren’s ancestor date back 10 generations, she would be only 1/512th Native American.
2) "Detecting DNA for Native Americans is particularly tricky because there is an absence of Native American DNA available for comparison" "Bustamante used samples from Mexico, Peru, and Colombia to stand in for Native American"

Anything brought forward will be dismissed anyway. Fake news, not enough Native American, test is old, test is bias, test is tricky, etc.

Carlos Bustamante did the test (read the article).
He stated that he compared Warren's DNA to samples from tribes in Mexico, Peru, and Columbia to come to his conclusions. He did not compare it to any tribes in N America since there are few DNA samples available.
Tests show that many Mexicans and S Americans also have some DNA markers of Native American tribes. In other words, if you have an ancestor who is Mexican or S American, then you may also show markers of Native Americans based on the DNA test Warren used.

BLUF, Warren can likely claim a relative from Mexico or S America, she can not claim absolutely a descendant from one of the N American Indian tribes.

MSG (Join to see) - Ya know what's funny about that? If Warren had had any confidence at all in the results beforehand, she would have announced it from the rooftops prior to submitting her sample that she was taking the test.

1SG (Join to see) - My Mom was born in Juarez and legally immigrated to serve as an Army Nurse. She looked stereo typically Irish, her hair was auburn and eyes were green. She had a complexion slightly too dark to be taken for white when compared to most Europeans, except the die-hard sunbathers. But she had an easily recognizable Mexican accent, flair for attire and decoration, and cooking palette. When people asked her what kind of last name "Cobos" was, their demeanor usually changed pretty quickly as soon as she said "Mexican." So for her entire career as an Army Nurse she was called "LT Wetback" or the Mexican Potato behind her back; despite service in forward medical units after D-Day, during WWII, MASH units during the Korean War. In peace time, during the 50's and 60's she was commonly refused service in most of the White's only establishments in the southwest as soon she spoke. Despite being a An Army Nurse, she couldn't find employment as a civilian nurse in military hospitals until the 60's. She had plenty of offers to work as a housekeeper, cook, or nanny though.

So I'd say a good rule as far as claiming minority status is: Has anyone ever been fine with you, until they realize you aren't of essentially European ancestry, then discriminated AGAINST you. I don't think Senator Warren can make that claim.

Senator Warren is not attacked BECAUSE of her DNA, she's attacked for using it to advantage. I agree that there is "reasonable doubt" that she attempted to gain an advantage prior to achieving certain positions in academia, but what was the point of claiming it after she got the positions? And she clearly used her supposed minority status to imply to minority potential voter's, that she uniquely understood their plight in a way her opponents could not. If you have to knowingly and deliberately mislead to get into office, perhaps the "real you" couldn't capture the majority vote and you don't really belong in office.

As it has been stated in other places, if you are claiming you are a minority in order to gain from it, there should be some proof of it. Warren's claim is tenuous at best.

My mother's family (Canova) is descendant from Spain and were among the early settlers of St Augustine, FL (the Canova house still stands). While I could then claim to be Hispanic and possibly benefit in some way jobwise, I believe it would be dishonest. If someone asks me about it, I freely tell them, but I don't use my ancestors to get a job or promotion.
