Little more to it than that. Bottom line is Jesus was sent to take the sin away that existed. God made him to bring His word. That is not the exact technical explanation but no time to type it. Faith. Gotta have faith.

Capt Gregory Prickett - for you. My faith tells me it is and sorry you don't feel the same. So when you say there is no evidence- there is no evidence for you. Part of what it is about- faith. It's a myth to you and to belittle my beliefs because you feel otherwise is fairly insulting. I may not be the most practicing Catholic in the world, but I have faith that God exists. I have also been around the world and participated/ looked at many religions and understand my faith is not the only one that exists. For you to merely discount my faith system is short sighted and it is a limitation of you- not me.

Well PO1 Tony Holland. I had to chuckle at the naiveté of the authors and editors of this The Atlantic web article. "But the discovery of a relatively advanced human ancestor also raises theological questions, particularly for Christians who believe that a person must believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ in order to receive eternal life in Heaven. It may sound silly to apply that standard to primitive species hovering millions of years ago between animal and human, but it’s an important question if you believe in the eternal soul."
Whoever wrote that obviously is ignorant about Christianity and most likely has no relationship with God.
A basic doctrine of Christianity is that Jesus the Christ made atonement with God possible for each and every one who came before HIM and everyone who came after HIM.
God is absolutely just. Each one who honestly seeks HIM is found and saved by HIM.
Thanks for mentioning me Maj Marty Hogan

Thank you for the articulate response LTC Stephen F. I am never eloquent when it comes to expressing my faith. It is always something I consider very private and personal to me. I never push my religion on anyone and hate when they challenge my beliefs. Faith is something they try to logic away. Somethings just are.

Eloquent and simple. As you said Capt. Hogan, some things just are. I couldn't agree more.

I like to think of the painting in the Cistine Chaple in Rome where God is reaching down to a fully developed reclining man. At some point the spark of eternity and the Devine was placed in man. Having watched animals I find they have remorse, sense of sorrow, and sense of loss and sense of caring. I look at some of the efforts to teach great apes language. Is our awareness and intelligence related to our separation from God? I find it interesting a magazine such as "The Atlantic " would bother with an article like this.
