If someone is in need of a job, then $16/hr can be a game-changer. Especially for an entry-level position where they will train you.

16 bucks an hour for a go-fer/trainee is good pay. It gets your foot in the door. There's areas in the trades where that's hard to do. In Chicago if nobody sent you you don't get it!

PO1 Robert George - This was my job while active. In my current position a 60hr week gross's me more than that job would pay in a month. I went industrial multi-craft maintenance, an easy transition. Most factories that are looking for "Fixers" want documented work experience in the field, your active time counts, and don't care a whit about a Journey man's card. My employer went through an extended period of time wherein they only hired ex-Navy ETs. Or, if your looking for a way to spend that GI bill money find a school near you that offers Mecha-tronics.
