Great article. I'm interested if one should make a comment of their gap in their Cover Letter if applying to job sights like Indeed, Monster, Glassdoor, etc.

I think it depends on the gap (reason, length of time, etc). There are too many factors to say one way or the other. Often, gaps are better explained verbally, but if you find that you're being overlooked before getting a phone/interview, it may be worth a shot to put the explanation on the cover letter and see how it goes.
