What is now termed PTSD has been going on at least since the US Civil War in this nation when significant explosions such as the blast that precipitated the battle of the crater in Petersburg, VA SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL
Countless soldiers and marines experienced shell shock in WWI, WWII, Korea and the Vietnam War. More recently the term post-traumatic stress was coined and became a part of the language. PTS encompasses a wide range of symptoms from the relatively minor intermittent to the severe and constant pain of severe depression and restless nights with draining nightmares.
Lord you know exactly how many are suffering from PTS and how deeply each one is stricken. I pray that you would guide veterans and friends and relatives and medical personnel to help each one cope with PTS and seek help.

My approach to PTSD is simple:

- Find the switch that turns off reasons to die with reasons to live. That is when they are the most vulnerable.
- Focus on "Infantry Skills". Safety, hygiene, eating, sleeping, etc.
- Understand PTSD.
- Identify symptoms.
- Use coping skills for the symptoms.
