Oh Yeah I've done C-Rats before The Spam was good for being older than I was. The Stale Dry Crackers, Stale Dry Cigarettes and Stale Dry Gum were all pretty nasty.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel,

Sounds like you got an old WWII C-Rat. My father mentioned he got one one time in Nam, and the cigarettes that were in it, Lucky strikes, had a green circle on it instead of the Red Cirlcle.

I think it was actually dated from the Korean War but the Spam was still fine. Everything else NO!

TSgt Scott Hurley - Now that you mention it, they were lucky stripes with a green circle and everything was in a can.

Loved the C rats, my son cut his teeth on them, MRE's weren't too bad. Had a hard time figuring out how to open the MRE's with my P38 though.

I certainly remember ham and limas or as they were more commonly known ham and mother f.....ers at least in my era also before we were supplied with heat tabs the peanut butter and bug juice made an acceptable substitute bit smoky and smelly but did the job, pound cake and peaches by far the best grab of all.
