One that you are comfortable with, accurate with, and going to carry. It doesn't matter how big or powerful it is if it ain't with you.

Pick one that you can shoot well and will carry. While my Colt Trooper .357 Magnum is more powerful than one of my 9mm pistols, the Trooper isn't practical to carry, while one of my 9's is, so I carry one of my 9's when I go out.
