My family didn't get our first refrigerator until I was about five or six years old. Before that, we had an ice box and I can remember the iceman coming three days a week with fresh blocks of ice. I also remember the lamp lighter lighting the street lamps in the evening, then returning in the morning with a ladder in case he had to clean any globes or replace any mantles. Then there was our first Mix Master, our coal fired furnace, and so many more. Damn, I'm old...

My family had the ice box until I was about the same age as you, then we got a gas refrigerator. That refrigerator eventually got moved to the basement but was still chugging along when I went off to college.

Have seen several of the items shown, we still had a coal chute in a house that we lived in when I was 4.
