My father, Jack Curlee (now deceased) was in the Navy and served in the Pacific during WWII. When he returned to the states, he played on the NAS Green Cove Springs (FL) baseball team (he had played college and minor league baseball before entering the service). The team actually flew to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to play the U.S. Navy team there. While in Cuba, they got to go to the original Sloppy Joe's which was in Havana and not Key West! It was frequented by Ernest Hemingway. This AP file photo was taken 15FEB46, near the actual time that my father went to Cuba to play baseball!

Yep. People forget there was a time Cuba was a great place to live and there’s no reason for that lifestyle to come back to Cuba. Perhaps the new leader of the party should start his own version of Make Cuba Great Again campaign.

We pulled into Gitmo once. Beautiful place, aside from the prison and the Communists...

It’s a good thing not everyone in Cuba is a Communist; much like China.

Well Fidel Castro died in 2016 and Cuba is now being led by their second new leader since his death.
When sanctions were lifted a few years ago, American businesses initially jumped all over the opportunity. Corporate influence and trade ambitions is one way to convince new leadership to shape their agenda. Or you can keep treating them like the enemy and accomplish nothing. Just a thought.
