Yep...they are expected to shine at all times. My grandson's mother's boyfriend is leaving in one week to go to Marine Boot Camp.

Thanks SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL for sharing the USMC rules which are not actually USMC regulations.
1. You are not required to get a haircut every week. [makes a lot of sense in the field or on deployment]
2. No, you don’t have to wear skivvy shirts in cammies. [depending on the climate this makes sense]
3. There’s no Corps-wide rule mandating you wear a reflective belt during PT. [common sense indicates reflective belts make sense in built up areas but on on deployment for instance]
4. There’s no Marine Corps order saying you can’t park in reserved spaces. [that is interesting]
5. You’re not required to wear issued PT shorts, but they do have to be green.
6. There’s no actual rule against walking on the grass. [that makes common sense]

LTC Stephen F. I know the Army has similar rules also....the grass and the haircut in my opinion.
