I don't see in the article that University and sorts flags were banned. I saw where SecDef took action to not have them flown at military installations. I am ok with that because the flag represents a secessionist movement against the US and shouldn't be flown over Federal installations. What I am not ok with is telling private citizens that they can't fly it on personal homes or cars as it is offensive. As offensive as it may be to a lot of people that is a First Amendment right and that I will defend. I won't fly it but if someone chooses to do so then they have the right to.

I suppose we all have the right to wear Nazi insignia, Hitler T-shirts, SS and Gestapo emblems. You won't see me doing it. The confederate emblem is offensive to anyone opposed to white supremacy and it's racist trademarks. Thought before action always makes a better soldier.

PVT William Murphy - You are right...thought before action does make a better soldier but if they are stupid enough to fly it or wear it then they better be tough enough to face the criticism...but it is legal. Yes they are offensive but to me music that talks about killing cops and using every curse word in the world at the car wash or stop light or parking lot next to me is very offensive but it is legal and I can't stop it...protesting the military and veterans is offensive to me but it is legal. Wearing of a T-shirt (actually saw this the other day) "Bitch, mess with me and I will F--- You up" in a store with family and kids...very offensive to me but legal...what is the difference? there is none...what is offensive to one is not offensive to the other. You supposition was right, you do have the legal right to wear what you want to but again be ready for the opposition.
