Capt Gregory Prickett
My first unit was the 36th Abn Bde. We weren't designated as a roundout brigade, but we were a divisional brigade, not a separate brigade, and there was only one airborne division at the time. We were also higher priority than a bunch of active duty units, for example we had TOW and Dragons while AD divisions were still using 106mm/90mm recoilless rifles.
The 101st had a similar setup with an airmobile brigade (39th) in Arkansas. But I don't know anything about the brawl between the 82d/36th and the 101st/39th that supposedly occurred at Fort Chaffee because someone was stupid enough to have all four units there at the same time... Also, the DZ at Chaffee is a joke, a hilltop covered with boulders.
