India farmer protests: 'War-like fortification' to protect Delhi

Iron nails, rods, barbed wire, boulders and makeshift walls are being used to barricade Delhi's borders against thousands of protesting farmers.
The beefed-up security - called "war-like" by some farmers - comes amid a tense standoff with the government over new agricultural laws.
The protest, now in its third month, presents the biggest challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi has faced.
His government offered to suspend the laws but farmers want them repealed.
Things turned violent last week when protesters and police clashed after thousands of farmers entered Delhi as part of a massive tractor rally. Dozens of officers were injured and one protester died. Farmers' groups and union leaders condemned the violence but said they would not call off the protest.
Instead, they they plan to block highways leading into the national capital on Saturday. Meanwhile, the situation at the protest sites - Singhu, Ghazipur and Tikri - has steadily worsened.

Government had to suspend the new laws for 1.5 years, once the SC got involved in sorting the agitation. However, the farmers are unconvinced with surety being provided by the Government.
External forces found this situation very attractive to unhinge Government from its pedestal. The agitation got violent and rallies began. Then, the farmers blocked entryways and exits to and from the National Capital threatening to lay seige on Parliament, until the Government repeals the new bills affecting farmers.
In the process, Government and farmers unions helds ten or more rounds of negotiations without reaching any agreement. This boiled the pot to much higher temperatures and the farmers agitation began to unleash.
The pinnacle of the agitation was the rally on Republic Day leading to the Red Fort in the center of Delhi.
The rest is history. The agitation has fizzled out largely, yet a few elements remain at the borders outside the National Capital.

Foreign elements used the farmers agitation to try and unseat Government of India. Some believe it was Khalistan, while others suggest homegrown terror modules funded from abroad. If Khalistan tried to turn farmers agitation into a political mayhem then, it failed miserably. However, if this is the case then, it is clear that Pakistan's ISI is involved too. If this is a homegrown terror attack funded from abroad then, it is urgent to trace the origins of those external financiers. Dawood Ibrahim's D Company or the Laskar e Toiba (LeT) can be behind the seige on Delhi. The reason Baber Khalsa and the Khalistani movement is suspected is because the Sikh farmers of Punjab and Haryana makeup majority of the agitators. Certain UP farmers union leaders are inciting more agitation along Delhi borders. We can only wait and watch.
