Italians had red wine, French had cognac. Germans had the best food. Never had any British, or the Officers Pack. We scrounged in Somalia.

All kidding aside, my unit shared a firebase with the BRM in Saudi Arabia in 90-91. We traded MREs for their rations. I have to assume/hope they've improved but the meat "pudding" smelled like Alpo and has the consistency of half dried mud. I'd take an MRE over that any day. So would they.

Traded MREs with an Ausie commando for one of their 24 hour meal packs. I think they are/were basically the same as the British rations, except for maybe the vegemite, which I could do without.
