Thanks for a really great clip. Reminds me a bit of me, I didn't start out being an engineer; at the time I didn't think of it as quitting, I thought of it as refocusing my goals, I built on each step along the way. I won't bore you with the whole journey, but it was very long. :)

The "terrible advice" is the nonsense flowing out of the Ozan Varol's keyboard.

I absolutely agree, repeatedly doing what’s not working or clinging onto something long after it’s outlived its purpose is just dumb. But that is the end of my agreement with Mr. Varol. If the desired results are significant or meaningful PRESS ON!, but change your tactic or technique. Changing tactics/techniques IS NOT GIVING UP!!! It is learning, improvising, adapting and overcoming.

Yes it is overcoming in the way that the person can succeed. I am very familiar with it.
