I have a cool story about Kerrville. My godparents were some of the finest people I have had the opportunity to know. They had a friend who owned a 40,000 acre ranch in Texas but was unfortunately murdered on the ranch. My godparents hired private detectives to help the police and the teens eventually faced justice. The gentleman had a large black lab named Moonshadow. My godparents adopted him and bought a small 600 acre ranch near Kerrville which they called Moonshadow ranch. They used the ranch as a weekend getaway and I often went fishing on the small lake on the ranch and used their small ranch house. The fishing was outstanding. Perhaps the average bass was 2 lbs. I caught a 6 pounder once. The channel catfish weighed 10 lbs. each because they were stocked at the same time. They eventually built two more very nice houses on the ranch.

The dog died three decades ago. In front of the small ranch house is a large, winding, ancient oak tree. The night sky was not encumbered by city lights and you can see infinites stars in the black sky. Near the base of the tree is a large bronze plaque of Moonshadow and his original owner lookin at each other in perpetuity. The tree was located by a creek and the incessant sounds of the water trickling can be heard. Like I said, my godparents were some of the finest people I have known. They taught me to act with purity and compassion.
